Carole and I have been fulltime residents in Huronia Heights since we retired here in Oct 2021. We bought a cottage on Lakeview in 2005, tore it down in 2020, and built our current home. We grew up in Livonia and Canton Mi and have been married since 1974.I have been a custom software and database developer since the 70's and have seen incredible changes in the industry and my career, constantly developing new skills to be able to work. I started my own consulting business in 1995 and I am still working for 1 customer parttime.I served on the board of the Michigan User Group (MUG), a technical computer group, for 25 years until we moved here.

Jim and I bought a cottage in the Huronia Heights community in 2005. It was the perfect weekend 'getaway-from-stress' from our jobs at the time. As the years progressed, we grew to really love our home away from home and often discussed possibly living here permanently after retirement. I retired from my job as an elementary secretary with the Plymouth-Canton Schools in 2012. Jim continued (and still does, sort of) to work, but the internet allowed him to work remotely.
Spending more time at our cottage, coupled with our two daughters moving thousands of miles away, prompted us to decide to live here permanently. Fast forward to 2020 & 2021: we had our cottage demolished in order to build a full-time home. That timeframe was a difficult time to build due to the pandemic, however we were able to sell our home in Canton and move into our new home here in October, 2021.
At this time in our lives, we're able to escape the Michigan winters and have joined the ranks of the "snow birds" that migrate to Florida each winter. We visit our oldest daughter and her family a couple of times in Jacksonville, FL during the winter months. Our younger daughter married a Dane in 2010 and lives in Denmark with her family. We alternate years visiting each other in person, and 'visit' with her via Zoom each week.
